Selected Work

  • Co-founded a regional arts council.
  • Founded a one-day community-wide arts festival attended by over 2000 visitors.
  • Developed a corporate university and marketed innovative training programs to the industry.
  • Coordinated development of utilities, roads, fire protection, park, senior center, elderly housing, community greenhouse, and office complex.
  • Directed recreational facilities operations, including pools and sports facilities, arts and crafts studios, clubs, classes and concerts, and special events.
  • Completed Land‑Use, Economic Development, Social Services, and Water Resources Plans.
  • Captured over $2 million in grants and contracts without a rejection.
  • Acquired a Central Arizona Project water allocation.
  • Recommended policy, interpreted complex documents, and developed and explained political/development alternatives to Tribal Council.
  • Developed owner-built, passive solar adobe homes in an historic context for low-income families.
  • Supervised operation of an adobe block manufacturing facility.
  • Led 200 volunteers in a program helping 1200 elderly and disabled neighbors remain independent – at no charge to participants.
  • Helped community leaders create a July 4th celebration attended by over 4000 in its first year.
  • Designed and implemented customer surveys and helped develop corporate report cards.
  • Managed development of a computer network, including conversion from multiple databases and platforms to a single enterprise software package.
  • Led staff expansion from 550 to 750 employees while cutting employee turnover in half.
  • Wrote and published five books.
  • Created and managed an HR department also responsible for  continuous improvement and organizational development.
  • Coached the successful turnaround of two small businesses.

  • Guided a nonprofit organization in creating a staff-volunteer team to redevelop and manage an active website.
  • Served with a grassroots organization to hold meaningful conversations with inmates in jail around topics in Positive Psychology.
  • Serving as a Recovery Coach with newly-released inmates.
  • Helped a new volunteer grant-writing team acquire a corporate grant for an animal rescue center.
  • Led a regional volunteer center team to help local nonprofits increase their organizational capacity.
  • Forged a partnership between a regional volunteer center and a large school district to improve volunteer programs at schools.
  • Served as an examiner for statewide Quality Award Program.
  • Led 100 volunteers in a National Volunteer Day project to refurbish an elementary school butterfly garden.
